Caravanning Out Of Season

With the milder winters of recent years, more and more camping & caravan sites are staying open longer, some up to ten months of the year.

Why not make more use of your caravan!

Modern caravans are also far better equipped for use all year around with better heating systems and insulation.

There are hundreds of caravan sites open all year long, many of these are privately owned, The Caravan & Motorhome Club also have many all year sites available and from as little as £1.

Why not start looking now for some Autumn & Winter breaks, as they are becoming more popular it is always best to book in advance to avoid disappointment, why not try a Christmas or New Year break. My family and I have been spending new year away in our caravan for a few years and have always had a great time!

There are quite a few advantages to using your caravan outside of the summer season. Not only can you pick up some very good deals but also visitor attractions can be far easier to visit with less footfall. The same goes with shops, cafe’s and restaurants, even car parking is usually far less aggravation.

If you like outdoor activities like walking, hiking, cycling, running etc, these can also very often be  more enjoyable too. Less vehicles on the roads mean it should be a little safer when out running or cycling. Coast paths and parks are quieter too, always a bonus if you like things a little less hectic.

There are a few things to consider when using your caravan in the colder weather. At some point you will need to use the gas heating as the electric sometimes just will not be enough to heat the caravan interior efficiently. If this is the case then you can use the gas and electric simultaneously which will have a greater effect.

Of course, you should make sure the gas system in your caravan is in good working order, get it tested by a qualified person. This is something that should be checked annually during the course of a service and will give you peace of mind when using gas appliances during the colder spells when doors and windows are usually closed more often. You should also ask for a Carbon Monoxide test and report for room sealed appliances within your caravan or motorhome.

Search for winter caravan breaks, I’m sure you’ll be surprised what is on offer, there are so many beautiful places to visit in the UK.
